Cornish New Potatoes

Cornish earlies are one of the first new potatoes to hit the shops. Potatoes have been grown in Cornish cottage gardens since the mid 1700s, when the potato and the pilchard were the staple diet of many Cornish families.

They are best eaten in late April and May. We like to cook them as simply as possible, just add to a salad or on the side with a bit of butter and black pepper.

Top tip – buy ‘dirty’ i.e. with soil still on them, this preserves the quality, flavour and freshness. Our Cornish earlies come from Pryor’s at Colywn Farm in Perranwell Station – we like to say they are ‘deliciously dirty’.

Available in store now from £5.50 per kg.
