Store to re-open fully on Tuesday, 19th May

Looking forward to welcoming our customers back…

Great news! The Great Cornish Food Store will re-open to walk-in customers from next Tuesday, 19th May.  Revised opening times for the time being, at least, will be Tuesdays to Saturdays 9am – 6pm. This will be in addition to our Home Delivery and Order Collection services which we introduced rapidly at the end of March when the country first went into lockdown, and which will remain in place.

Located within the same building as Waitrose and with plenty of parking, it’s the perfect opportunity for shoppers to pop in for some fine local produce including fresh fish from our coastal waters, local meats, eggs, and seasonal fruit and veg, and some lovely treats, at the same time as doing the supermarket shop. And in these times of hardship for Cornish farmers, producers and the hospitality sector, what better way to support the local economy and help Cornwall get back on its feet by buying local? The vast majority of our suppliers are small, family-run businesses – and everything we sell is, of course, local.

When the doors open on Tuesday morning, not only will there be lots of fresh produce available across our deli, bakery, green grocery, meat and fresh fish counters, we’ll also have plenty of special offers across our range of charcuterie, cheeses, staples, confectionery and more.  Our expert in-store butchers, deli team and fishmonger, as well as the retail team, will be on hand to help remind everyone of all our lovely quality products, choose old favourites and re-acquaint with some perhaps forgotten items.  Our very own chefs too, will also be producing a range of salads, terrines and deli counter takeaway options in addition to the tasty freshly-made ready meals, which have continued to be very popular whilst we focussed on Home Deliveries and Order Collections.

For all customers who continue to shield from the Coronavirus or who feel too vulnerable to visit the store in person, the Great Cornish Food Store will continue its Home Delivery and Order Collection services – although no longer on Mondays due to our revised opening hours.  We feel very strongly that customers should only come to the store if they feel well enough to do so.  For those who are able to come in, we’re really looking forward to welcoming customers back. We’ve missed everyone very much and being able to offer our customary personal touch.

We’re currently organising the store to ensure both staff and customers can exercise social distancing, and to make it as safe as possible for you to do your shop. For general shopping, entry to the store will be via Waitrose, while collections of shopping orders will continue via our own separate front door.

Sadly, our café won’t be open again until we get the government go-ahead.
