Scilly Comes to Cornwall November 15, 10-5

Rarely is food and drink more ‘local’ than the produce sourced, grown, and reared across the five tiny, inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly.

An archipelago of 140 islands, just 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall, it represents the ultimate in slow food and low food miles.

On your travels around the isles, you’ll more than likely be able to point to the local fisherman or farmer who’s provided the food on your plate… and we look forward to welcoming some of these suppliers to our store in November. Joining us will be a hand-picked selection of islanders bringing a Taste of Scilly to Cornwall.

Inspired by tales of old, the rich maritime heritage and the characterful Scillonian ‘sea dogs’, premium spirits brand SC Dogs Distillery located on St. Martin’s, will be offering an array of rums and vodkas, each dedicated to an iconic islander of times gone by.

Gin-lovers are in for a treat with St. Agnes based Westward Farm gins created using ingredients and botanicals grown on the family’s generationally owned farm; alongside award-winning Scilly Spirit, recognizable by their distinctive bottle in the shape of Bishop Rock lighthouse and made by husband-and-wife team in their state-of-the-art distillery on St. Mary’s, located next to the only gin school on Scilly.

Bringing a little island spice to Cornwall, Scilly Chilli is a business created during lock-down by Ruth Eggins of Hillside Farm on Bryher. With multiple polytunnels dedicated to various varieties of chilli, Ruth will be on hand with her array of jams, chutneys, sauces and chilli powders.

For those with a sweet tooth, Issy from Veronica Farm Fudge, also on Bryher, will be showcasing her delicious ‘kitchen-table’ confectionary made using St. Agnes milk and featuring several cross-island collaborations; and for those in the festive spirit, Tanglewood Kitchen’s Lindsay Rodger is bringing her famous mince pies to the mainland, winner of multiple accolades in the ‘Great Taste’ awards, most recently the coveted 3 stars.

A mince pie would not be complete without a little something extra on top, so luckily we have Troytown Farm, who are located on St. Agnes bringing their signature ice cream to the store, for the first time. Thought to be the smallest Dairy farm in the UK (certainly the most southerly) Troytown Farm is well-known and loved for its secret recipe, all made by hand on site… on the last piece of rock in the Atlantic Ocean before you hit America.

Each producer will be offering ‘sips and samples’ as well as telling their story of island life and the ethos behind their brand.

And our sign up now for our newsletter to be the first to know when tickets open for our Friday night ‘Sensational Scilly’ event.

Our chef Nic, will be creating some delicious nibbles using island produce and the distillers and wine makers from the islands will be creating some bespoke cocktails just for us!
