Meat and Seafood Manager

 

Reporting to: Managing Director

Key areas of responsibility:

  • As one of the senior managers of the store, creating and upholding excellent standards of product, service and efficiency, and helping to drive the business forward.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation and effective presentation and maintenance of the meat and fish counters within the store, co-ordinating with other store functions as necessary.
  • Accountable for achievement of agreed financial targets.
  • Responsible for ensuring that meat and fish operations are compliant with all relevant legislation.
  • Responsible for security and safety of relevant premises, equipment, stock, customers and staff.

The role includes:

  • Recruitment, induction, training, mentoring, performance monitoring and welfare of all relevant staff to agreed standards.
  • Producing and communicating rotas for all relevant staff, ensuring the required skills are in place at all times.
  • Collating and submitting accurate payroll information to GM.
  • Implementing and maintaining safe and effective working systems and procedures for operation of the meat and fish sections to meet customer requirements, comply with all current legislation, and keep staff safe and motivated.
  • Coordination of relevant suppliers and stock, to ensure a comprehensive range of products that meet the store supply criteria and margins is available at all times, communicating with the kitchen and other sections to coordinate orders and supplies where necessary.
  • Monitoring and reviewing sales performance of all products at regular intervals.
  • Managing, coordinating and checking deliveries to ensure the correct products are received and stored safely and appropriately.
  • Maintaining efficient credit control by ensuring all orders are placed and invoices passed for processing in the agreed timeframe.
  • Maintaining an understanding of all relevant equipment and systems and ensuring they are functioning at optimum level and in line with store procedures. Management of all relevant repairs and service contracts.
  • Maintaining displays and presentation of goods using effective merchandising techniques to drive sales, profitability and repeat business.
  • Ensuring that all areas are clean, fresh and sanitary and meet required standards and legislation.
  • Minimising waste effectively and managing waste to agreed targets.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Acting as Duty Manager on a rota basis with other senior managers.
