We’re delighted to announce an exciting opportunity to join The Great Cornish Food Store as a Level 2 Butchery Apprentice.

For the first time since 2018, butchery apprenticeship training has returned to Cornwall thanks to the launch of the brand-new Butchery Academy at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland. We’re proud to be working in partnership with Duchy College to help train the next generation of skilled butchers while supporting the future of Cornwall’s thriving food industry.

Earn While You Learn

This apprenticeship offers the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to build a rewarding career in butchery. As a Level 2 Butchery Apprentice, you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in a busy commercial butchery while studying towards an industry-recognised qualification.

Working alongside experienced professionals at The Great Cornish Food Store, you’ll develop essential skills including:

• Professional knife skills
• Meat preparation, boning and trimming
• Stock control and inventory management
• Food hygiene and safety
• Product knowledge across a range of meat species
• Working with high-quality, locally sourced produce in a commercial butchery environment

You’ll earn a wage while learning, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience and nationally recognised qualifications at the same time.
