Farming that Doesn’t Cost the Earth

Farming

that Doesn’t

Cost the Earth

Around 80% of Cornwall’s land is farmed and the entrepreneurs in and around our farming community recognise that food production that causes environmental harm can’t continue. They are creating a future where farming has a positive impact on the environment, enhancing our unique natural assets by reducing carbon emissions and increasing biodiversity.

This approach is already:

  • Pioneering the capture and conversion of methane from dairy farming into fuel.
  • Producing alternative forms of protein such as insects.
  • Using satellite technology to produce specialised mapping, planting and crop performance data to enhance the productivity of horticulture.
  • Predicting crops that will suit Cornwall’s changing climate.
  • Implementing new approaches to grassland management to sustain red meat and dairy production on Cornwall’s hillsides with a lighter touch on the environment.
