Here in Cornwall we’re lucky enough to be blessed with some of the best grazing terrain in the world, along with farmers who use time-honoured practices to produce meat of exceptional quality, while avoiding the drastic environmental damage caused by factory farming.
That makes our job sourcing meat for our butchers pretty straightforward.
We’re incredibly honoured to be the only retailer that acclaimed grazier and butcher Philip Warren & Son supplies in addition to their own shops. That’s where every bit of beef we sell in our butchery and use in our kitchen comes from. All originating from moorland farms and expertly dry-aged for at least three weeks, the eating quality and flavour are second-to-none.
Our pork and lamb are supplied by J V Richards of Perranwell, just a few miles away. Venison is from the Prideaux Estate; free range chicken from Wicketts Farm Produce near Bude.
All our meat is from animals reared locally, so we can be comfortable that we’re not just paying lip service to local farmers but genuinely supporting and sustaining our family farms.
Our butchers, led by Tom who came to butchery as an accomplished chef, make all their own sausages, hog’s pudding and burgers from this top quality produce and our customers definitely notice the difference!
